What Motivation is doing to tackle the Global Recession |
Across the UK, charities are beginning to feel the effect of the global recession, so we’d like to take this opportunity to reassure our supporters that we are doing all we can to make the very most of your valued support.

Our expenditure is low |
At Motivation we
are incredibly proud of our low expenditure vs. income ratios. To give
you an example: For every £1 of unrestricted income we received in 2008, we spent only 20p in core* fundraising costs For every £1 of restricted income we received in 2008, we spent just 9p in project fundraising costs |

Our work is sustainable |
Motivation works
in partnership with local and international organisations, and by invitation
only. Working in partnership enables Motivation to remain a small organisation,
whilst having a wide international reach. The benefit of this is that Motivation does not have high overheads (such as excessive numbers of staff, or large regional offices) yet we can reach the people most in need of our experience and support. This also means that Motivation builds the strength of the partner. When working with a local partner our aim is to build the capacity of the organisation so that eventually Motivation can withdraw, and leave the partner to run a viable, professional service that is of long-term benefit to the disabled people in that community. |

We make your donations go further |
Our individual supporters
contribute greatly to our core* income. Gift Aid is extremely important because if you are a UK tax-payer your donation can be worth 28% more to Motivation. Motivation includes a Gift Aid declaration on all of its fundraising literature, as well as the Donate Online page of our website. So if you are a Motivation supporter and a UK tax-payer, and have not already done so, please contact Motivation to make a Gift Aid declaration. |
*The word “core” is used to describe the pot of unrestricted funding that Motivation relies upon to cover most of its costs. Without core funding, Motivation could not survive as an organisation.
