Four wheel chairs

Motivation's first project was in Bangladesh. With the prize money that David Constantine and Simon Gue won for their design of a wheelchair for the developing world, they travelled with the third co-founder, Richard Frost, to Dhaka and visited the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP). At the end of their visit they were invited to go back to CRP to establish a wheelchair workshop. They did this in 1991, after they had graduated, and Motivation was born.

In partnership with CRP, Motivation introduced a four-wheeled, active style wheelchair for adults and children with spinal cord injuries. Since 1991, the workshop has been successfully managed by CRP, providing hundreds of disabled adults and children with the necessary mobility for them to lead an active life.

In 1999, Motivation returned to CRP to upgrade the wheelchair design to make it more able to cope with rough terrain. In particular, the wheelchair was changed from a four-wheeler to a three-wheeler and a tricycle attachment was introduced.
