Felix was born with cerebral palsy and his mother Alice admits that his disability meant she ‘had bad feeling towards the child.’ Her husband abandoned her and Alice felt isolated and depressed – she didn’t know how she could bring Felix up alone.
But Alice wasn’t alone. Thanks to a Motivation training programme that teaches mothers how to care for children with cerebral palsy, Alice has realised that she is ‘not the only person with this kind of problem’. She and Felix have attended eight training sessions and as a result, Felix is now learning how to sit upright and how to swallow and chew food – both of which he used to find very difficult.
The training programme has transformed Alice’s relationship with Felix. “Since the training, I am strong-hearted,” says Alice.
