A huge thank you to everyone who donated!

Thursday 4th August

As some of you may or may not know, our When I Grow Up appeal came to a close yesterday.

While we still need to confirm the final figures, we are delighted to announce that we have raised a whopping £190,000 – which will be doubled by the Department of International Development as part of the UK Aid Match scheme.

Thanks to you, we have far exceeded our initial £100,000 target and we are absolutely over the moon!

A personal thank you from Peter, Motivation's Africa Regional Manager...

So, how will this money be spent?

Money raised by the appeal will fund a project supporting disabled children and their families in Uganda. Project activities will include life changing training for 400 parent/carers and their disabled children alongside vital training in income-generating activities for these same families. We will also hold Motivation Peer Training sessions to empower an additional 40 disabled children.

Since we have raised nearly double our original target, we are now in the process of exploring ways in which we can expand these core project activities – which is brilliant news.

The project goes further to conduct a number of disability sensitisation meetings to both raise awareness and tackle stigma in commuties across the two project regions. In addition, referral training will be provided so that children involved in the project’s principal activities can be referred to appropriate wheelchair services for further support. Motivation will also seek to engage with local government and the Ministry of Health to advocate for these activities to be included in government plans.

Thank you!

We have been truly humbled by the overwhelming amount of support for this appeal and most certainly could not have done it without you. Thank you to everyone who so generously donated – you are all superstars!
