Motivation’s work exporting wheelchairs around the globe to ensure that more people receive the ‘right wheelchair in the right way’ has been honoured with the top award in the Best Export category at the Bristol Post Business Awards.

Motivation’s President and Co-Founder David Constantine collected the award and said “We are thrilled to be recognised for our work, particularly because we are a social enterprise, operating to deliver maximum impact and a social return on investment through our trading activities. It’s an honour to be amongst so many successful businesses but also great to be able to demonstrate that our approach  is not only be commercially viable but having a major impact on improving the lives of disabled people.”

The event, hosted by the Bristol Post at Ashton Gate Stadium on Wednesday 29th June, brought the very best of the business world together under one roof to celebrate the region’s achievements. Motivation’s export of wheelchairs to over 60 countries in 2015, saw its trading income double from £1.4million to £2.6million last year, and was a major factor in the judges deciding to choose Motivation.

Motivation’s Chief Executive Richard Frost was unable attend the awards ceremony because he is currently in India, negotiating with the Indian Government’s official wheelchair supplier, about a transfer of technology which could see Motivation wheelchairs manufactured under licence there. This type of partnership could not only mark a radical step change in the quality and standard of wheelchair provision in this region, but illustrates the innovative and ambitious approach Motivation is embracing.

Richard comments “It’s an exciting time for Motivation’s social enterprise, which feeds 100% of all profits made through the sale of wheelchairs and mobility products back into the charity. This means that we are building a sustainable model, which allows us to do more to support the very poorest disabled people round the world.”

Mazar’s who sponsored the award said “The team at Motivation are living proof that if you're true experts in your field and passionate about what you do, international borders aren't a constraint. Congratulations from all at Mazars on winning the 2016 Bristol Post Export Award.”
