Change the lives of people like Harrison When Harrison was nineteen years old, he was involved in a car accident. He was left paralysed, stripped of his independence and reliant on his wife for everything. But support from Motivation enabled him to become independent, regain his confidence and live life to the full once more. After his accident, the wheelchair he was given by the hospital was poorly fitted and unsuitable for the uneven ground in his community. He was only able to use it for one hour before it became painful to sit in. Before long, Harrison became hopeless and depressed. But everything changed when he met Nancy, one of our wheelchair technicians in Kenya. He was assessed and fitted for the Rough Terrain wheelchair you see above, and attended training that taught him how to use it effectively. By the end of the course, he was thrilled to be moving around and using public transport on his own. "I was so alone," Harrison told us. "But after the Motivation training, I realised that people are living with disabilities and having good lives. Now, I am independent and have the skills to look after myself." I am very thankful to Motivation and the people who support them in the UK. They have changed my life. Last year, you helped Motivation support more than 19,000 disabled people like Harrison. Donate today to help us reach even more people in 2019.
